 SK NANGA MELUAN

SK Nanga Meluan, nestled atop 7-acres undulating terrain, is situated at the Julau District, overlooking the upper reach of Kanowit river. At the junction leading to the school, a sign board “Welcome To SK Nanga Meluan, YBB 6203” stand majestically amidst the green surrounding of its natural beauty. For decades, it had symbolized an only epitome of an educational centre for about more than 20 longhouses were situated along the river bank and road side. Upon entering the school compound one could experience a difference time zone where historical legend of Fort Brooke still stand firm despite the ruthless ravages of time and weather over the decades. The fort was built by Charles Vyner Brooke, the 3^rd Rajah of Sarawak in 1934 to stop the rebellion spearheaded by a local hero named Asun. Then, the fort was later used as a classroom blocks when SK Nanga Meluan was first established in early 60’s.

         Doubtless, since it establishment way back in 1957, the school has undergone tremendous changes especially in physical development. Currently, there are two blocks of classroom, a block of library, a block of pre-school, two blocks of student’s hostel, ten units of class 4 quaters including four improvised teacher’s quater, a school kitchen and an enormous school hall built on gotong royong basis by parents and teachers of the school a few years back.

         Electricity supply was undertaken by Education Ministry which cost RM2.2 million is commencing since January 2008. Due to it hictorical legend, being an Iban majority school since it establisment, the school had faces many obstacles and it is still looking for the right soul and spirit of the parents and their children  to emulate the courage as shown by their local warrior, Asun.

         Today, the school is reach-able and it takes thirty minutes to drive from Julau town. With an enrolment over than 200 students, 19 teachers and 11 non-teaching staff, SK Nanga Meluan is poised to reach a new height in academic and extra-curricular achievement in the next coulpe of years. All these obstacles only can be achieved under the dynamic and far sighted leadership of current Headmaster which is assisted by a pool of dedicated and committed staff, with the concerted effort of the parents to achieve the school goal and vision.

SEJARAH PERASMIAN

Sekolah Rendah Kerajaan Nanga Meluan telah dibuka dengan rasminya oleh Y.B. Encik Ambrose Gramong anak Jelian, Menteri Muda Tanah dan Hasil Bumi Sarawak pada 17hb Mei 1981.


LOKASI
Terletak di dalam daerah Julau. Jarak 26KM daripada Pejabat pelajaran Daerah Julau. Boleh dihubungi dengan jalan raya bertar lebih kurang 25 minit menggunakan kereta daripada pekan kecil Julau. Manakala jarak ke Bandar Sibu dan Bandar Sarikei mengambil masa selama 1 jam 30 minit.
